Take over my makeover

Two years ago today I took to this page as if I was on stage, and proceeded to tap the microphone in a metaphorical way, wondering if anyone still bothered (or cared) to visit Confessions of a Blogophobe for a glimpse into my world.

Seems little has changed in the intervening 24 months, as negligence and delinquency have become hallmarks of this nearly four-year-old blog.

Seems every post I write begins the same way.

Been a long time...

Haven't written in awhile...

Bla, bla, bla...

Blah, blah, blah...

There is a distinction between the two. Bla, bla, bla is the French equivalent of yadda, yadda, yadda. We use it to denote the meaningless parts of the story that nobody really cares about.

Blah, blah, blah is what this page has become.

Blah.

There is a distinct lack of life in here. No purpose. No vision.

What is this place? And what should it be?

I ask the question because it has become painfully clear that whatever Confessions of a Blogophobe once was, it is that no longer.

I tried to re-ignite the blogging fire in September, with a sterling four-post month.

Then it took two months to produce two posts.

Hardly enough to keep the ones of you still reading coming back for more (as opposed to the hypothetical hundreds and thousands that once perused, or is that pursued, this page).

It is a bit of a lost cause.

Then again, so were the hometown Senators a mere month ago, and look at how that story is sorting itself out.

The sad-sack, basement-dwelling franchise has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts through the first quarter of the NHL season, surprising most everyone with a makeover that has made them the living embodiment of what it means to evolve and transform and become what you can be, not what you are perceived to be.

Perhaps the same can happen here.

Let me rephrase that.

Can the same happen here?

A question. A question for which I want an answer.

What could C-o-a-B be?

A place to pontificate?

An avenue to advise?

A home for humour?

An outlet for outbursts?

How can I rebirth a page whose lifespan seems to have long ago elapsed?

If anyone is reading this, I plead with you to pass on a thought, an idea, anything that could spark the re-emergence of Confessions of a Blogophobe as something far beyond what it has become, and much better than it ever was.

Take over my makeover.

  1. what are you passionate about? COAB began as a writing outlet. There are no rules about it having to be about your family. It can be political~spark some debate perhaps? Good luck.

  2. Soon the gray matter between your ears will become so filled with fantastic memories and deep thoughts that your available space will be reduced to short term retention necessary for survival.(like birthdays & anniversaries)
If you allow COAB to be a place to dump some of those memories from time to time - then I say, it's worth it. It clears up RAM, gigs, storage space in that messy noodle of yours. And when you have the time to re-visit your writings of old, the memories easily jump to the forefront again.
That's generally why I write.... I write IF & WHEN I have something to say. I write when something important needs to be recorded for historical sake. I write so I don't have to hold myself accountable for memorizing too much sh*t.
Keep writing man - who gives a rip how many or how few people visit?? This place isn't for "us".
    It's for you & yours.

  3. Chubbs, you are a very smart, and witty guy with a penchant for dry humor. You are so many things: dad, son, brother, husband, full time writer, full time p90xer, y part time hockey player, avid many thinger. This place, for me, is a place to make connections; with those you love, those who love you, those who find you funny or witty or deep or not. But what it isn't is an obligation of greatness!!!! Not every entry has to be deep, witty and perfectly written. We come here to connect with you, yours and the daily grind. So write what is on your heart, what is on your mind, what you think is funny or stupid or life changing or yesterday's dinner. It doesn't matter. If you write it, they will come.

  4. dude, even when you're writing about nothing i seem to be entertained by it. get off your needy ass and write about something completely removed from your life. what about some fiction? write a post from the mouth of a Japanese nuclear plant worker. a Greek stock broker? a Swedish high jumper with hopes for Olympic glory? tell me a story...

wanna write a treatment for this documentary idea i have?
